Airsave Premium

Airsave Premium - A World’s First by IDE New-Parts Compressors

IDE Airsave Premium Monitoring of air-quality at breathing-air compressor. Unrivalled around the globe: the only integrated, electronic system to monitor air quality and filter saturation in highpressure breathing-air compressors.

Airsave Premium is your first opportunity to monitor all parameters of your compressor system, which are decisive for air quality and operational safety - CO, CO2, O2, temperature, humidity, filter saturation, working hours, intervals for maintenance, service and oil filter replacement - and to control the compressor accordingly. If safety-relevant parameters are violated, the compressor is switched off automatically.

The computer-aided, microprocessor controlled electronics continuously monitor the filter (moisture, odours and oil residues in the moisture), and measures the oxygen percentage and the concentration of harmful substances like CO and CO2 in the compressed and filtered gas. The device also monitors operational parameters like operating temperature, temperature at the filter wall, service and maintenance intervals, and it controls the compressor system. Airsave Premium is particularly recommended for all breathing-gas compressor systems for air, oxygen, nitrox or trimix.

The IDE Airsave Premium sets new standards

Almost all manufacturers of high-pressure breathing-air compressors offer a means of indicating filter saturation, which, more or less precisely, monitors moisture inside the filter. Filter monitoring by means of a capacitive sensor (e.g. Airsave, Securus, Ecosafe) are usually reliable.

Friction and heat due to compression causes considerable heat in high-pressure compressors. Especially if compressors run in poorly ventilated rooms or in hot climate locations (tropical dive resorts), overheating can easily occur. A damaged cylinder valve in one of the compressor stages inevitably causes overheating. In such exceptional operational conditions, the lubricating oil in the affected compressor stage can easily ignite and burn, which in turn results in the creation of highly toxic carbon monoxide. In a traditional breathing-air compressor system at a fire brigade, rescue service, in recreational or professional diving, this highly toxic mixture could now be pumped into a breathing apparatus. When the user realizes the mortal danger of this gas blend, it might well be too late.

All responsible-minded manufacturers offer filter cartridges with the catalytic Hopcalite, which converts toxic CO to less toxic CO2. The assumption, however, CO2 was non-toxic is untrue. But such filters are only fully effective at room temperature and if the gas has sufficiently long contact with the Hopcalite. By no means, however, one could rely on the catalyst being generally effective. Filter cartridges with Hopcalite are usually employed in combustion- engined compressors, which pose the risk that CO from the exhaust fumes could be sucked in. Even if such filter cartridges are being used, the operator can never be absolutely sure, that no toxic CO or CO2 could be in the tanks - and leave him with a considerable risk of liability.

If the used lubricant oil is cracked due to elevated temperatures and certain pressures, CO2 will be created, too. When filling nitrox or trimix, the oxygen percentage will be measured and displayed already during compression.

The Airsave Premium System can be installed and retrofitted to every compressor system of all manufacturers.
